Spirit of Power!

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (II Timothy 1:7)

In this one verse, it has been written about three great anointments which God gives you. Of the three, first comes the Spirit of Power. Yes. You need power in your spirit, soul, body and inner man. One should not get discouraged in minor issues and so magnificent strength is required to wage war against satan. Powerful spirit is required.

We call this power given by the Spirit as the Power from on High. Jesus told the disciples “Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

The worldly people do physical exercise day and night to keep their body fit. They strengthen their nerves, bones, and flesh and indulge in boxing bouts. Paul, the Apostle says, “For bodily exercise profits a little” (I Timothy 4:8). If one person suffers from fever for some days, his physical strength acquired out of rigorous regimen of exercise, dwindles off.

If I am asked who the strongest of the men of all time is, I will point out Samson. The Holy Spirit had given Solomon immeasurable wisdom and in the same way, He had given great physical strength to Samson. With that strength, he had done great things. Yes. With a mere jaw bone of a donkey, he was able to beat thousands of people to death. He was able to pull the entrance gates of Gaza from the fixture and carried them for 46 miles to the top of the hill.

But the sins of lust which came across in his life diminished all his strength and turned him into a weak person. The persons responsible for the death of Samson were not the Philistines or Delilah the harlot but it was his sins. He lost his strength for having lost the dedication and for betraying God.

The Scripture cautions,”For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). “The soul who sins shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20). “Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death” (James 1:15). Dear children of God, when you renounce the sin and establish fellowship with the Holy Spirit, you get your inner power strengthened. Even if thousands of demons rise against you, you will defeat them in the Name of Jesus, through the blood of the lamb and with the verse of testimony

To meditate: “The foolishness of a man twists his way and his heart frets against the Lord” (Proverbs 19:3)
