Different Spirit!

“But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed me fully,” (Numbers 14:24).

Just because it has been written as “Different Spirit” here, it should not be construed that there is another Spirit similar to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is only one. People of the world might have been afflicted by several kinds of spirits. But one who fills and guides the children of God is the Holy Spirit alone. In that case, about what does God speak by mentioning as “Different Spirit?”

Yes. Moses sent twelve persons, each of them representing different tribes to spy the land of Canaan. Ten persons among this twelve roamed in the land of Canaan and they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out. These views were not from the ones who had been filled with the Holy Spirit. Self-pity, inferiority complex, thought of defeat and the spirit of murmuring were there in them. The spirit within them differed from the Spirit which was in Caleb and Joshua. That is why God separates Caleb and says that he has a different spirit in him.

There are two kinds of Spirits. One is the ‘spirit of the world’ and the other is the “Holy Spirit” or the “Different Spirit.” Paul the Apostle says, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God” (I Corinthians 2:12).

So, we do not follow the path of the people of the world. We do not think in the manner, people of the world think. We speak only about the success and not the defeat as the Spirit of Christ dwells in us. “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory” (1 Corinthians. 2:7).

Those who possess the spirit of the world speak with a sense of defeat and they indulge in creating rivalry. They always think of their own strength rather than thinking of the strength of God. But Caleb had been separated for God. In the church of God too, there will be people of the world who will act based on the self-strength. At the same time, there will be saints too who are guided by God. When the wisdom and spirit of the world rule the roost, commotion, murmur and cry alone will prevail.

Dear children of God, you are different people. You have been separated from the people of the world. The anointment you have received belongs to the Most High. So bring peace to the church and to the family by thinking of the Spirit and speaking of the same. For the sake of God, separate yourself from the people of the world and stand alone. The Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Truth will stand by you.

To meditate: “Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you” (John 15:19).
