Spirit of Burning!

“When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and purged the blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning” (Isaiah 4:4)

We see two experiences in Christian life. One is the experience of Salvation and the other is the experience of the Holy Spirit. With that experience of anointment, you are also filled with the fire. That fire stays as the Spirit of Burning to carry out a cleansing in you.

There are two kinds of struggles around every Christian. One is the struggle of sin and the other is the sinful habits. A man might have committed thousands of sins but when he comes and stands nearer to the cross, the blood of Jesus falls on him, washes him cleanses him and makes him holy. But the problems do not come to an end with this. The sinful habits follow him like a serpent in search of an opportunity to capture him again.

What is the way to escape from the nature of sin which follows? Only for this, the Spirit of Burning which comes from the Holy Fire should be sought and received. One should seek and say, “Fiery God, descend into my spirit, soul and body. Plead that all the nature of sin and evil thoughts which God dislike may be burnt and chased out.”

Just imagine that a poisonous snake is coming into your house. The first thing to be done is to beat it on the head and kill. Then it has to be burnt. Only then you will get perfect peace and success. God defeated the serpent which cheated Adam and Eve and followed the mankind, on the cross of Calvary. He crushed its head. The blood which shed from His feet gives us the victory over him.

The process does not end here. That serpent has to be burnt. The fiftieth day from the day of crushing the serpent on the Cross is the Day of Pentecost. It was on that day, God poured the anointment of fire on the disciples and graciously helped them to burn their sinful habits which were the nature of the serpent. Dear children of God do not remain idle with the thought that you have been saved. Every cell of your body is longing to enjoy the sinful pleasure and follows like a serpent. So, it is essential that you should be filled with the spirit of burning every day.

In the hospitals, the old clothing used by the patients will be burnt in order to prevent the poisonous germs and viruses from spreading. Akan and his family who brought the curses into the Israelites, were burnt. Today, you may burn the natures of satan and the sinful relationships, with the Holy Spirit. Only then the deliverance and peace will come into your spirit.

To meditate: “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled” (Luke 12:49).
