Spirit of The Most High!

“Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field and the fruitful field is counted as a forest” (Isaiah 32:15).

Our God is being called as “God of the Most High.” It means that he is higher, more magnificent and more glorious than all other gods. Job, the devotee writes several times in his book as “God in heaven.” In Tamil, there is a song with Psalm 91 as lyrics and our hearts rejoice when we sing the first line “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” One can see the refuge and protection we derive from ‘God of the most High’ glittering in every verse.

A few years ago, some Christian leaders went to meet the Chief Minister of that time. When they saw a Bible finding a place on the table of the Chief Minister, they felt very happy. They told the Chief Minister, “Sir, we want to build a big church. Since most of our church members are very poor, we are unable to buy land, So, if you could issue an order allotting one acre of cheap land owned by the Government to us for the purpose, we will be grateful to you.”

Do you know how the Chief Minister responded to this request? He said, “Only one is the tribe and only one is God. I feel that Christ alone is God of the Most High unlike the gods, which are the stones laid on the sideway. His preaching and deeds are very great. Why do you ask for such cheap land for such a great God? Find an area in a prime location and proceed with the construction process. I will be helpful to you in every way.” As he promised, he helped to provide materials like cement, brick etc. free of cost.

Job, the devotee said, “For what is the allotment of God from above and the inheritance of the Almighty from on high?” (Job 31:2). Some people believe the spirits of the idols which roam about in the world as gods. They call themselves as gods of the world, founder of a religion and God's incarnation on earth. But it is God who alone created the heaven and the earth. He alone descended to earth, gave His life on the cross of Calvary and rose back to the heaven.

The anointment which God of the Most High has poured on you is the Spirit of the heaven. That spirit points out to you that you do not belong to this world but belong to the heaven, the eternity. He has made a covenant with you and says, “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite ones” (Isaiah 57:15).

To meditate: “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’Hosanna in the highest!” (Mathew 21:9).
