Excellent Spirit!

“In as much as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel” (Daniel 5:12).

The Spirit which God had placed in Daniel was very special. King Belshazzar came to know this through his mother. “There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him” (Daniel 5:11). “In as much as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel”

King Belshazzar looked at Daniel and said, “I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you” (Daniel 5:14). King Darius who came to power after King Belshazzar also appreciated Daniel. “Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm” (Daniel 6:3).

Dear children of God, He turns you to be special among your family members. You will be working with many people in an office but your role will be pivotal. What is the reason? Our Lord God is special. “What is your beloved more than another beloved, O fairest among women? What is your beloved more than another beloved, that you so charge us?” (Song of Solomon 5:9) What is the answer to this? “My beloved is white and reddish”.The colour white indicates holiness and the colour red indicates His sacrificial love of Calvary. “His head is like the finest gold”. The word ‘gold’ indicates the ‘faith.’ It indicates the Scripture which is greater than gold and fine gold. Yes. He is special.

A father had six sons and one farmland alone was his property. He did not wish to divide the land amongst his sons. He wanted to identify who the special one was among the six sons and give him the entire land. For this purpose, he prepared a plan. He called his sons and told “I will give Rs. 1000/- to each of you. You will have to buy something with it and fill one of the rooms fully.” One son bought straw with the money and filled a room while another son bought sand for the purpose. Every one of them tried with something to fill the room.

But the youngest son did a wonderful job. He simply bought a candle and matchstick with the money, went into a room, lighted the candle and filled the entire room with light. He was found to be the special son and he was gifted with the land. Dear children of God, fill yourself with the characteristics of Christ so that you become special. May you fill yourself with the gifts of the Spirit!

To meditate: “The blessings of your father…shall be on the head of Joseph and on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers” (Genesis 49:26).
