New Spirit!

“Then I will give them one heart and I will put a new spirit within them and take the stony heart out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 11:19)

In the final days, God will make a new covenant which could be written in our mind by Him. Based on that covenant, He will give a new Spirit in our heart. He, who anointed the head with oil in the Old Testament, now anoints the heart; gives a new Spirit; graciously gives a heart of flesh. While writing about this, Paul the Apostle says, “…and be renewed in the spirit of your mind and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:23, 24).

When God saved me, I felt the depression which had been troubling me thus far, departing from me. A huge rock was taken away from me. The power of darkness withdrew from me. Not only that. God turned me into a new creation. He has accepted me as a member of the heavenly family. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (II Corinthians 5:17).

The evil attractions like cinema and evil habits like smoking passed away. All the contacts with the old friends were cut off. I, who was thus far in the hold of satan, began to dwell in God, having become a new man by the blood of Jesus. Apart from providing Salvation, God anoints your soul with His new Spirit. Your heart should never be vacant. It should receive the new anointment and should be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Once, a devotee by name D. L. Moody put the following question to the believers. “A glass jar is filled with poisonous gas and how could this gas be cleared?” Some persons viewed that if the jar is turned upside down the gas will go away. Some others suggested that if the jar is slowly shaken the outer air will go into the jar and replace the gas little by little. With a smile, Moody said that the gas cannot be completely taken away through these methods. He told that if the jar is filled with water the gas will be completely replaced.

Similarly, when you are filled with the Holy Spirit which is new, all the unwanted dirt inside, sinful habits and satan’s destructive deeds will go away. Dear children of God, never keep your heart empty. If you keep so, the unclean spirit which went out of you will combine with seven other spirits which are more wicked and enter into you along with them (Mathew 12:43-45). Fill yourself with heavenly Spirit.

To meditate: “But my horn you have exalted like a wild ox;I have been anointed with fresh oil” (Psalm 92:10)
