Spirit of Eternity!

“Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God” (Hebrews 9:14).

Just imagine that a long thread is running before your eyes both on the left and right sides. Mark two points on the thread; one for your birth and the other for your death. There were years of eternity before your birth and this period can be called as past eternity. Similarly, there is a lengthy eternity after your death; this is the eternity of the future. In between, you have been given a wonderful opportunity by God to live in this world.

Every man who takes birth in the world has come across a lengthy eternity. But he does not know anything about the eternity crossed. The life on earth is a preparatory life for the eternity of the future.

‘Eternity’ is a very big secret. Other than the Scripture, no other book explains this secrecy. You have to prepare yourself for the eternity of the future with purity, divine love, great humility and prayer.

After writing several names for Jesus Christ, Prophet Isaiah called Him finally as ‘Eternal Father.’ Similarly, the Spirit which God gives us is also called as ‘Eternal Spirit’ (Hebrews 9:14). Jesus Christ relied on the Holy Spirit and gave Himself as a spotless sacrifice to God. He was a Son of God in the heaven. But when He descended to earth, He came as a Son of man and led a model life for us. Yes. You have to submit yourself as the living sacrifice to God through the eternal spirit. Several saints have dedicated themselves and have died as blood witnesses in this way.

The soul and the spirit of a man will not die even when death occurs to him in his physical life. They are eternal. “And the spirit will return to God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7). It is his soul which enters into eternal joy or if he had committed sins will travel towards the eternal suffering.

So, keep your faith in Christ who is eternal and the Holy Spirit. At the time of death, the body which had been thus far a home, a blanket or a dwelling, falls down and it becomes to get rotten quickly. But your soul is eternal. Whichever happens first, it may be your death or the Coming of God, you have to dwell with God. You have to rejoice in the presence of God forever and ever. Prepare yourself for that.

To meditate: “Your sun shall no longer go down, nor shall your moon withdraw itself; for the Lord will be your everlasting light and the days of your mourning shall be ended” (Isaiah 60:20).
