Spirit of Truth!
“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13).
In the Scripture, the word ‘Spirit of Truth’ appears at five instances and it is not finding the place in the Old Testament even for once. Jesus Christ introduced this Spirit of truth. Since the world has not seen and does not know this Holy Spirit of truth, it cannot receive it. “…but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:17).
This world is lying within satan. He is a liar and the father of the lie. He always works against the truth. He cheats cunningly. See! God had warned Adam and Eve about the death of soul they might face if they eat the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil saying, “you will definitely die if you eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” But satan cunningly tempted Adam saying, “You will never die. On the day when you eat this fruit, your eyes will be opened and you will look like gods.”
Adam and Eve believed this and ate the forbidden fruit. Their soul died on that day itself. God talked about the death of the soul but the enemy talked about the physical death. Yes, he blows the lie. He is a liar and the father of it (John 8:44). The thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy (John 10:10).
At the same time, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). Jesus always spoke the truth. It is He who introduces the Spirit of truth to you. He fills your heart with the Spirit of truth. John the Apostle writes in his epistle, “…we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error” (I John 4:6). Jesus is the truth and so the Holy Spirit witnesses over Jesus Christ (I John 5:6).
The first spirit of satan which acts against the Spirit of truth is the spirit of craftiness. He cheats and makes the people stumble by his cunning speech, twisting the truth and blowing the lie. The next spirit is that of the antichrist and he denied Christ. He turns the attention of the people away from Christ by focusing himself as another Christ. Pilate asked Jesus what the truth was and he did not know this, even though the truth Himself stood before him.
Dear children of God, God has given in your hands the Scripture which is the truth for you to understand the truth as truth. Every word of the Scripture is a truth and it is eternal. Heaven and the earth will pass away but the words of truth spoken by the Holy Spirit will by no means pass away.
To meditate: “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13).
