“When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you” (Isaiah 43:2).

The first is water, the second is more suffering which is rivers and the third is the burning fire. “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings…..” (I Peter 4:12, 13).

Why should God take us through such tests like fire? Yes. The aim is that you should be purified and made to shine like a refined gold. The gold which crosses through the fire begins to shine. In this process, the scum and other dirt in it are separated and burnt to ashes. Dear children of God, since God has found you to be precious, He has willed to produce you in Divine presence as stainless, blemishless pure gold.

Do you know until what sign the gold will be continued to purify? The process of purifying the gold will continue until the face of the goldsmith is seen on it clearly as though it is seen in a mirror. Similarly, God will continue to cleanse you until the image, resemblance and characteristics of Christ are found in you.

“….that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (I Peter 1:7). Job, the devotee feels the impact and says, “But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10).

Next, God speaks about the flames of fire. God who fills you with the Holy Spirit and fire will make you the flames of fire. “Who makes His angels spirits and His ministers a flame of fire” (Hebrews 1:7).

Moses rejoiced on having this experience in the wilderness. Even though the bush was burning it had not been burnt. Moses went near to it, saw that great sight and was delighted (Exodus 3:3).

Once when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were put into the furnace by Nebuchadnezzar, That worldly fire could not cause any harm to them. The fire of the Heavenly Holy Spirit descended. The Son of man descended in that fire as the fourth person, helped the Hebrew youngsters to escape and was dwelling in them. That Divine Son will protect you from all the fire like tests and struggles.

To meditate: “Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterwards it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it” (Hebrews 12:11).
