BUT THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS ….!
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”(Galatians 5:22, 23).
Once when I was travelling in a train, a desire to acquire all the Fruits of the spirit suddenly arose in me. Further, the desire was to lead a fruitful life and to offer the Fruits of the spirit unlimitedly to the one whom I love. At the same time, there was a doubt too in my mind over how can a person reflect all the nine fruits at a time. When one is made perfect in love, he may lose the self-control. Similarly, when one is made perfect in joy, there may a shortfall in his gentleness. Can a person be made perfect in all the fruits of the Spirit?
An elderly man of God who was travelling in the same compartment said to me. “Your efforts to be made perfect in all the Fruits of the Spirit will be a waste because Christ who is filled with all the fruits of the Spirit is dwelling in you. The Holy Spirit who provides all the Fruits of the Spirit is dwelling in you. He is the one to make these fruits of the Spirit seen in you.
The anointment of the Holy Spirit was not poured during the days of the Old Testament, as it is poured today. They were the choicest vine brought from Egypt. They were the ones planted in Canaan where milk and honey flow. “He dug it up and cleared out its stones and planted it with the choicest vine. He built a tower in its midst and also made a winepress in it; so He expected it to bring forth good grapes, but it brought forth wild grapes” (Isaiah 5:2).
But in the New Testament, Christ is the true vine. As we are the creepers fully relying upon Him, we give good fruits to God. Further, as fruit yielding plants, we are planted near the springs of water and so we can give a lot of good fruits for God. Let your heart be ever connected to the Holy Spirit who is the spring of water.
Jesus Christ said, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear the fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing” (John 15:4, 5).
“There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High” (Psalm 46:4). Dear children of God, you are the Most Holy place where the Most High dwells. The river of life which is the Holy Spirit will make your heart rejoice. Not only that. It will give the fruits of life too. You will definitely be one with fruits.
To meditate: “In the middle of its street and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits” (Revelation 22:2).
