“Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for in you do I trust;” (Psalm 143:8).

There was an elderly woman who guided me in the path of God. When I go to her home in the early morning, I will find her praying, sitting beside a particular pillar. She told me “Dear younger brother, I imagine this pillar to be the feet of God. Every day, in the early morning, I will sit here and wait with anxiety over what He is going to speak for the day. His answer will make me rejoice.

Of all the prayers, the special one is the prayer made in the early morning. At that time, the mind will be open and prepared and the world will be cool and silent. How good it is to wait for the thin voice of God and listen to what He speaks before the loud noises of the world are heard!

Submit all your five senses i.e. body, mouth, eyes, nose and ears to the feet of God and surrender them for the rule of God. He alone is powerful to protect you blemishless and pure. Then praise Him saying Holy! Holy! At the end of the day thank Him and rejoice for protecting you with holiness.

Dear children of God do not spend late nights in unwanted discussions or in witnessing Television programmes but go to bed early. Create eagerness within you to wake up early in the morning and have a vision of the golden face of God. Even while lying idle before sleeping, speak to your soul saying “you have to wake up early in the morning and praise God.”

Some children of God will restrict their night food. This helps them in avoiding the laziness of the morning. The Holy Spirit will wake you up at the right time. Once you wake up in the morning, dedicate the day as the ‘day of prayer.’

The forefather Abraham had the habit of waking up early in the morning (Genesis 21:14, 22:3). This good habit was also with Isaac (Genesis 26:31) and Jacob (Genesis 28:18). Many saints have given their early morning time to God and have honoured Him. You may also bring in this good habit to yourself.

I have heard a person saying that he has decided to wake up early, as the Muslims also do, even before the rooster crows in the early morning. My righteousness should be greater than that of others. Is it not? (Mathew 5:20). Dear children of God, be very particular receiving the grace of God which pours like manna in the early morning.

To meditate: “I love those who love me and those who seek me diligently will find me” (Proverbs 8:17).
