“…that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man” (Ephesians 3:16).

May it be a small cell phone or may it be your big car, they will function well only when the batteries in them are charged regularly. Similar to this, the inner man within you has to be strengthened with the power and the strength of the Most High. Then you will become powerful to do any good work.

If the power decreases in your life, it will diminish the holiness in you. The fellowship with God will get weakened. You will not be able to bring in the miracles and signs to the people. If you try to cut a tree with a blunt axe your physical effort would be futile and the tree will never fall and the effort will be a mere physical waste. So, pray earnestly to lead a victorious life and to do the ministry fruitfully. Only then the inner man within you will be powerfully strengthened.

Many people do not give importance to the Holy Spirit and they do not get anointed with it sufficiently. The worship time is the right time when the Holy Spirit moves around in the church. But many people come late to the church. They skip the worship part of the service and come in when the sermon commences. Because of this, the inner man within them does not get strengthened. Those who worship God with ceremonial and traditional indifference can never lead a prayerful life.

Look at the forefathers of the church! They always gave importance to the prayer. During the ten days between the ascension of Jesus and the day of Pentecost, the disciples continued with one accord in prayer and supplication (Acts 1:14). Not only that. “And they continued steadfastly … prayers” (Acts 2:42). “….praising God and having favour with all the people (Acts 2:47). “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke the Word of God with boldness” (Acts 4:31).

In many people, the inner man within them remains weak and weary. Is your soul weak and lean similar to the horse belonging to Tenaliraman? Does it get weary even on small exertions? Does your soul suffer from hunger and starvation for want of prayers? Prayer, scripture, ministry and sermon are all required for powerfully strengthening the inner man.

I saw a writing in a lorry, near the space where its battery is located. It said, “Watch me daily.” Similarly, you should also take care of the inner man within you. Christ dwells only in that inner personality. The Holy Spirit also dwells only in him. Those heavenly guests should be happy within you.

To meditate: “Your words have upheld him who was stumbling and you have strengthened the feeble knees” (Job 4:4).
