“Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Mathew 9:38)

The second prayer point which God gives is to seek labourers for the harvest. There was a time to sow and now it is time to harvest. “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age (Mathew 13:37-40).

Today, wherever we see, we find people being saved swiftly. They resort to Baptism, get anointed, turn into servants of God and then preach the Gospel. But they are not enough in number. More labourers and servants of God are required to meet the Indian Nation. The Indian population is numbering around 130 crores. People speak 1652 languages and there are 3000 caste divisions. Still, there are lakhs of tribal people living in the forests and hills and the islands of Andaman and Nicobar islands. Servants are required to meet these people and to prepare them for the Coming of God. Sacrificial servants prepared to die as wheat grains for the sake of bringing thousands of souls to God are required.

Supplicate saying, “God, send servants for the harvest. Send the missionaries. Raise the prayer warriors. Raise the blood witnesses. Raise thousands of those who love you immeasurably. Will you not send the servants for the harvest? Will you not enliven the churches by sending redemption?”

William Carey began his career as a cobbler. But somehow he had a burden over India. It is told that even when he was engaged in his work, he used to pray with tears, looking at the Indian map hanging on the wall before him. He pleaded “India has crores of people who do not know the difference between their left and right hands. Will you not meet India which is filled with superstitions? Break the bondage and fill India with the brightness of the Gospel. May your blood purify all the Indians living between Kashmir and Kanyakumari.”

When the burden of the soul is at a higher level, he will pick the map from the wall, spread it on the floor and lying on it, he will be rolling on it up and down and at the same time praying with tears for India. One day arrived and he departed to India closing down his shop. He translated the Bible into several Indian languages. Only after shaking the foundation of India, he crossed into the glory.

To meditate: “….praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18)
