like the dew!
“I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily and lengthen his roots like Lebanon” (Hosea 14:5).
I will be like dew; like a storm; like fire; like oil; like a river of life. I will be like a latter rain. Today, He says with love, “My child, I will be like the dew to you. You will blossom like a lily.”
My father loved me a lot and I also loved him. When my father died, I was the only one with him. When I was to leave to Chennai, after the funeral service, I was depressed. At that time, I was able to hear God’s thin voice saying “I will be your father.” These words of God greatly consoled me and pacified my heart.
Even if you lose your worldly father, God will be a loving and affectionate father for you. Even if you lose your mother, He will be a comforting mother for you. Here, He looks at the children of Israel and says with love, affection and compassion, “I will be like the dew to Israel; He shall grow like the lily.” Dew is a cold object and it provides refreshment to heart. This is a gift we receive from the heaven.
See! The first object which descended on earth from the sky was dew. “….but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground” (Genesis 2:6). Only after the descending of that dew, grass and herb began to grow. The mist is used to be called ‘Little rain.” When the dew turns into solid form, it is called as snow. The dew falls from the sky in the early morning. Generally, the dew is found spread over the leaves.
When Isaac blessed Jacob, he said, “Therefore may God give you of the dew of heaven, of the fatness of the earth and plenty of grain and wine” (Genesis 27:28). Dew is one of the special blessings graciously given by God. “For the seed shall be prosperous, the vine shall give its fruit, the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew” (Zechariah 8:12). Yes. Dew is a sign for the blessing coming from the heaven (Ephesians 1:3).
Dew is not only a blessing of the heaven but also one of the symbols for the Holy Spirit. Similar to the pigeon of the sky, fire, oil, latter rain, wind, cloud, seal and guarantee, the dew is also a sign of the Holy Spirit.
The dew indicates the grace of God. So, all the saints got up early at dawn and sought God. Will you too seek God early in the morning? Will you meditate the Scripture? God says that He will be like dew to you.
To meditate: “Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As raindrops on the tender herb, And as showers on the grass” (Deuteronomy 32:2).
