Branches Shall Spread!

“He shall ..... lengthen his roots like Lebanon. His branches shall spread;” (Hosea 14:5, 6).

You have to not only read this promise but also you have to inherit it. Apart from standing strong like a cedar tree of Lebanon, your branches have to spread too. Here, the word ‘branch’ indicates your children and every member of your family. The blessing of God will reach your descendants definitely. For your sake, God will bless your children generation after generation. Your family, children and grandchildren will be blessed generation after generation.

“There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots” (Isaiah 11:1). What is the promise of God over your children? “Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table. Yes, may you see your children’s children. Peace be upon Israel!” (Psalms 128:3, 6) “All your children shall be taught by the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children” (Isaiah 54:13).

Some years ago, I visited a home in Sivakasi. The girl I saw in that home was very lean and pale. Sadly I inquired the parents whether she takes food at normal quantity or not. They said “God has blessed us sufficiently. There is no scarcity at home. She consumes the normal quantity of food and we do not understand why she looks so skinny in spite of normal food.”
After a gap of a year, I met the girl again and at that time her appearance had totally changed and she looked chubby. I was unable to believe how such a skinny appearance could change into such a hale and healthy one. Her parents told, “God gave us Malachi 4:2 as the promise.” This verse “.... you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves” (Malachi 4:2) spoke with us. Keeping this verse, we prayed for our daughter. God gave a flourishing look both in her appearance and health.

See! Isaiah the Prophet said declaring his faith, “Here am I and the children whom the Lord has given me! We are for signs and wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells in Mount Zion” (Isaiah 8:18).

Dear children of God, dedicate your God-given children to God Himself. If you do so, your children will look very special when compared with the other children in the world. Is it not a God-given promise to you, when he said, “... your sons and your daughters shall prophesy” (Joel 2:28). Your children will be called as ‘the children of the Highest.’ God will give them special wisdom.

To meditate: “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
