Shield of Faith!
“...above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:16).
In the 6th chapter of the book of Ephesians, Paul the Apostle writes about the seven armours of God. You have been in the war field right from the day on which you had been saved. Satan and the groups of demons are opposing you. “For, we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
“Therefore take up the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:13). “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (II Corinthians 10:4). In all your battles make use of Christ the Saviour as your shield of faith.
About that shield which is Christ, Paul the Apostle categorically says, “I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day” (II Timothy 1:12). Dear children of God, place your faith in God. Rely upon Him with hope. “And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith” (I John 5:4).
The Cross of Calvary is the great shield for you. There, Jesus broke all the weapons of fire aimed at us by satan. Satan might have shot the arrow which is the curse at you. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (Galatians 3:13).
Challenge satan and say, “Satan, your manoeuvre and devious tricks can have no effect on me.” Saying the verse “The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Saviour, you save me from violence” (II Samuel 22:3) praise God and glorify Him. You will be victorious.
Dear children of God, David has glorified God by saying at several instances in the Scripture that God is the shield. He said, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalms 84:11). So, hide yourself every day, behind the shield of Christ which is the Cross of Calvary. If you do so, no fiery darts of the wicked one aimed at you, could harm you. The Name of God is a shield for you; His justice is a shield for you. God’s immeasurable love and benevolence are the shields for you and you will never be shaken.
To meditate: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe” (Proverbs 18:10).
