Blood of The Covenant!

“As for you also, Because of the blood of your covenant, I will set your prisoners free” (Zechariah 9:11).

God wants to make a covenant with you. It is not an ordinary covenant. It is a covenant coming through the blood of the Son of God. Though there are many covenants in the Old Testament, this is a covenant made by God with the blood of Calvary, with us who are His children.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, on the day in which Jesus was betrayed, He took the cup of wine and said “This cup is the new covenant in my blood.” Further He made a condition saying that we should remember that we are the children of the covenant and the promise.

With a little blood, the children of Israel made a covenant with God. They shed a few drops of blood in circumcision and made the covenant. What is its prime summary? “We belong to God and God belongs to us. We will always stand beside God. If we face any problem God has to help us by coming and fighting for our sake.

Once, when Goliath came against the children of Israel, they forgot the covenant of circumcision. But David did not forget it. “For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them. There is no one to protect him.” He did not stop saying this, but won over Goliath with a small stone.

What is the name of our God? It is “A true God who acts according to the covenant.” That too, He is faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations” (Deuteronomy 7:9). God had kept the Ark of the Covenant in the Tabernacle for all the Israelites to remember. He had placed the manna which poured from the heaven, in it. He had written the law in the two tablets which the Israelites had given.

Yes. The Israelites should follow the covenant. As God had poured the manna from the heaven, He had to meet all their needs. Dear children of God, one who feeds the birds of the sky will feed you also. One who clothes the lilies will clothe you also.

Yes. Today, He promises that He will deliver your people from the waterless pit with the blood of His covenant.

To meditate: “For all the promises of God in Him are yes and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us” (II Corinthians 1:20).
