BLESSING AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME!

“ I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing” (Ezekiel 34:26).

How blessed is the rain for a dry land! What a refreshment the rain is for the trees, plants and creepers which are about to wither out for want of water! Similarly, how joyous the divine love and presence of Christ are to you, in this world filled with sorrows and sadness. God says that showers of blessing will come down.

Only if it rains, the wells will be filled with water which in turn provide water for drinking and for watering the crops. If it does not rain, all cities and towns will become deserts. Who will like the deserts and who could live in such lands?

If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth (Ecclesiastes 11:3). Similarly, Gifts of the Most High will pour in your life if your hearts are filled with the promises of God. If your soul is filled with faith, all the things which you ask for will be given to you.

How does it rain? Job the devotee says, “For He draws up drops of water, which distil as rain from the mist” (Job 36:27). Just as the drops of water rise above like an atom, your prayer climbs to the heaven. The faith which is the wind lifts and carries the prayer to the heaven. It cools the heart of God and enables the rain of blessing to pour in your life. You receive the answer for your prayer. Your mind and life get prospered.

The Scripture compares the rain to the Holy Spirit. “Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain. The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone” (Zachariah 10:1).

There are both former and latter rains. The former rain was poured during the days of the early Apostles. The Holy Spirit descended upon the upper room with the sound of a great wind and with tongues of fire. The rain which is the blessing of the Most High poured. Since the clouds were filled with the anointment, the rain of the Holy Spirit made all the hundred and twenty persons wet.

But in these days God has promised to pour the latter rain. Read, how He has promised this through the prophet Joel. “For He has given you the former rain faithfully and He will cause the rain to come down for you — the former rain and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.” (Joel 2:23, 24).

“And it will come to pass in that day that the mountains shall drip with new wine, the hills shall flow with milk, and all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water; a fountain shall flow from the house of the Lord and water the Valley of Acacias” (Joel 3:18).

To meditate: “He binds up the water in His thick clouds, yet the clouds are not broken under it” (Job 26:8).
