“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward” (Psalm 127:3).

Today, for running a family, it has become essential for both the husband and wife to go for employment. The most affected because of this scenario are the children. The parents do not give sufficient importance to the children as they run after earning money and thus pave the way for the children to choose the wrong path. Based on the verse “Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Mathew 6:34) learn to be content with what you have. Also, teach this to your children.

The children, who are not properly nurtured in their younger days, boycott their parents in their youth stage. The parents do not act as models to the children. They even fight with each other in the presence of their children. The children, who witness such bad example displayed by their parents, do not respect them at the later stages. It is essential for you to act as a role model before the children who are expected to follow your way of life. However busy you may be and however big your workload may be, do not fail to allocate time to spend with children.

Parents, in these final days you have to watch your children very carefully. We are living in the days in which satan is cunningly deceiving the children and the youth as never before. He is destroying the lives of the children by introducing them to violence and lusts through videos, internet and social media like WhatsApp and Facebook. You should be cautious towards the safety of your children and ones who pray for the purpose.

Right from the early days, guide your children in the path of God’s liking. Teach them the Scripture verses and to pray. Take them to church in time. Conduct prayer meetings in your home. Tell them that food will be given only if they read the Scripture. In the present age, the children are devoid of love and are selfish too. So, firstly, you behave with love. “You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way when you lie down and when you rise up” (Deuteronomy 6:7).

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Guide the children in God’s righteousness and judgment. Then “...your children like olive plants all around your table” (Psalm 128:3). Dear children of God, you should always have the burden and fear over the responsibility on you to give an account to God over the children He has given.

To meditate: “All your children shall be taught by the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children” (Isaiah 54:13).
