“And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking” (Luke 5:6).

When a man exerts on his own, the efforts made outweigh the results whereas when the hand of God intervenes, results outweigh the efforts. God, Himself will bless all your efforts and exalt you. He will bless your bread and water.

The human effort could not do anything when there was a shortfall in vine in the marriage at Cana. But mere water was enough for the Lord to bring sufficient vine. He is powerful to make perfect what you are lacking, according to the riches of His glory.

Jesus and His disciples had no money to pay their taxes. From where could they earn this money? The Word of God intervened and the money was in the mouth of the fish that was caught first (Mathew 17:27).

After preaching in the wilderness for three days, Jesus asked His disciples to provide food to the great multitude that had turned up there. If the effort is human, where would they go for procuring so many breads? How will they get the required money? Since the hand of God intervened, five loaves and two fish were sufficient for the purpose.

No doctors could raise the daughter of Jairus or the son of the widow of Nain or Lazarus from death. But when the power of God intervened, every word which came out of Christ’s mouth was sufficient for bringing them back to life.

Dear children of God, God is with you. If you cast the net based on your own will your efforts will be put to waste and you cannot catch the blessed fishes. But at the same time, if you obey the voice of God and dedicate yourself to act according to His Word, even your minimum effort will enable you to inherit great blessings.

Without proper prayer and thinking, many people commence ministries with emotions being the factor behind. Simply after being kindled by some enthusiastic sermons, people turn into missionaries. Later, when they come across tests and sufferings, they are unable to withstand and ultimately get defeated and finally struggle to sustain.

Jonah got into the ship moving towards Tarshish, but God had predestined Jonah to go to Nineveh. Dear children of God, His ways are thousand times greater than that of yours. Peace, joy and blessings are there in His path.

To meditate: “Then He said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”  They immediately left their nets and followed Him” (Mathew 4:19, 20),
