GETTING DELAYED – A BLESSING!

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God” (Romans 8:28).

Everyone knows about the loving mother Amy Carmichael who served God as a missionary, staying at Dohnavur in Tirunelveli District. When she was young she had a big worry that her eyes are not as blue and beautiful as those of her mother. Amy Carmichael, as a girl believed that this can be done by prayer and so she continued to pray a whole day and whole night for this.

In the morning when she ran to the mirror looking for the change, she was greatly disappointed. But she continued to struggle with God and continued to pray for the same, day after day. Once when she was sadly looking at the mirror, God told her with love “No, daughter.”

Years passed by. When Amy Carmichael visited India as a missionary, she found the eyes of the Indians being black in colour. She was very happy. On that day she understood the secret behind God not answering her prayer made during her young age.

Many of the people act in the same way. They value God as a slave and expect Him to respond to all their selfish wishes. They do not kneel down and pray to understand what the will of God and His ultimate resolution are.

You should refrain from using God for your selfish purposes and submit yourself to do the will of God. God tells you, “Brother, Sister, never think to use me for your selfish goals.”

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord. (Isaiah 55:8). Dear children of God, present yourself for the divine guidance. Then you will be with perfect peace.

In the Scripture, Joseph was let down by his brothers. He had to go to the prisons because of the false accusations of the wife of Potiphar. In that situation, he could have lamented saying, “Why these difficulties, problems and sufferings for me? Why did God do these things for me?” But during the later stage, his life turned into a blessed one. At that time, he understood that God did everything for his good.

So, dear children of God, do not get disheartened for not receiving the answer from God for your prayer. Never forget that if your prayer is not answered or the answer is delayed, there will be a purpose and eternal resolution of God and that will be a blessing, beneficial to you in future.

To meditate: “You have …..seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful” (James 5:11).
