“And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home” (Luke 16:9).

Those who stand like orphans in heaven are the ones who went back to the evil ways and sold the wealth of the Heavenly Father for lusts. Generally, most people think that the ‘prodigal son’ to be a sinner who comes back after repenting. He had been with his father and after enjoying the love of the father he has slid to the evil ways. Based on the younger son’s request, the father had divided his wealth and shared with him. The prodigal son did not use his share of wealth in any trade or business. He got involved in lusts and lost everything to harlots.

Later, he went to the extent of going to the fields to feed the swine and even at this stage he did not think of his father’s love but what attracted him most was the food available in his father’s home. He resolved, “How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father” (Luke 15:17, 18). But his father was so compassionate that he welcomed his son and gifted him with the best robe, ring for his finger and sandals for his feet.

But he could not spare the inheritance or the wealth to him anymore. The wealth on hand belongs to the elder son. He has also told this to his elder son “Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours” (Luke 15:31). What does this mean? It means “I am not going to take any of your share of the properties and give the same to your younger brother. It is true that the younger son again got an opportunity to live in his home but only like an orphan.

Dear children of God, You lose the inheritances of heaven once you change track and go away from the love of Christ. You will lose the heavenly dwellings. Get yourself qualified to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light (Colossians 1:12). One who slides from the right path and commit sins presumptuously destroys his own heavenly home and heavenly inheritances. Whichever man profanes his body in the earth involving in fornication, heavenly inheritance will be denied to him and he will stand like an orphan.

Dear children of God, you have to do one thing. In your remaining lifetime in this world, perform Gospel work making use of your money and time and gain souls and only then you will find people in the eternal dwellings to accept you.

To meditate: ‘’ … he who wins souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30).
