ONE WHO CALLS!
“God, who …… calls those things which do not exist as though they did” (Romans 4:17).
Faith calls those things which do not exist as though they did. Creation is creating something from nothing. Our Lord God remains as one who calls those things which do not exist as though they did. Hallelujah!
Once, a sculptor by name Michael Angelo was walking through a thick forest along with his friends. On the way, they came across a huge rock. On seeing the rock, Michael Angelo told his friend, “Look at that angel. Ho w beautiful he is!” That friend stared at the rock from top to bottom but he found no angel in it. A little later when that friend had gone for resting, Michael Angelo took his chisel and engraved a beautiful angel on it.
The friend later returned from rest and was astonished to see the angel on the rock. See! A sculptor is able to see a simple rock as an angel. A carpenter is able to visualize a beautiful chair or table on seeing a plain wood. Similarly, God saw a beautiful world in the emptiness and darkness. God who calls those things which do not exist as though they did was also powerful to create the world from them.
One day, the eyes of God saw Abraham. He who was empty without a child was seen as a father of generations and father of the generation of faith. He also was powerful to bless Abraham that way. God sees you as wealthy people and blessed vessels in the midst of your emptiness, scarcity and debts. He is also powerful to bless you that way.
God who calls those things which do not exist as though they did called Lazarus who was dead as though he was alive. Four days had passed by since his death. The whole of his body was decomposed and thus was stinking. His ears lost the hearing capacity. But God called him not as dead but as though he was alive.
God sees you as saints, righteous, cleansed and worthy to heaven and this is as true as how He saw the world from nothing and how He created the sun, moon and the stars from nothing. Never forget that He is powerful to command enriches in everything to you against all your emptiness.
To meditate: “He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing” (Job 26:7).
