“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

Our God is a God of hope. He is one who multiplies the hope in you. If you keep your faith in God, your future will blossom. Many people have placed their faith on worldly things. They place their faith in money, status and authority and they think that these things will bring joy. They are ignorant that the joy these things bring will not sustain for long.

David says, “And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you” (Psalm 39:7). “O my God, I trust in you; let me not be ashamed; let not my enemies triumph over me.” (Psalm 25:2). “But you, O God, shall bring them down to the pit of destruction; Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in You” (Psalm 55:23). One single thing which David insists is that he has placed his faith in God and He alone is ‘God of hope.’

Hope is being compared to the anchor which is used to park the ship in the ocean. “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast and which enters the Presence behind the veil” (Hebrews 6:19). If a ship is without an anchor, during the times of turbulence in the sea, it will get tossed up and down and ultimately get drowned. But, if a ship is fastened to an anchor which is bound on a rock, it would remain unaffected despite turbulence in the sea.

Dear children of God, when the tests and struggles dash against you in your life, your hope on God will be a good anchor for you. Then, you can say along with David, “In God, I will praise His word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?” (Psalm 56:4).

What is your resolution today? Are you going to place your faith in God or on the men of the world? Some people place their hope on ministers, officials and the doctors. Dear children of God, the hope you place on men will be a waste.

The Scripture says, “Sever yourselves from such a man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he” (Isaiah 2:22). So, place your faith in God and rely upon Him. “…who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God” (I Peter 1:21).

To meditate: “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence and His children will have a place of refuge” (Proverbs 14:26).
