“For all the promises of God in Him are yes and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us” (II Corinthians 1:20).

Our God is God of promises. He is faithful to fulfill all His promises. For, all His promises are yes and in Him Amen. The Scripture can be called as ‘a book of promises.’ One devotee has gone through the Scripture and has calculated that there are around thirty thousand promises in it. The promises may be in many thousands but God is powerful to fulfill every one of them.

When God called Abraham, He gave numerous promises to him. “I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2). You also may stay as children of Abraham and rejoice on seeing the promises given to Abraham being fulfilled for you. Further, you also may claim inheritance over those promises and accept the same.

God’s promise is not only meant for Abraham but also to all his children, generation after generation. You not only stay as Spiritual children of Abraham but also inherit the promises given to Abraham. Abraham’s son is David and David’s son is Jesus Christ and so you inherit also the promises of Jesus Christ. You have perfect freedom to inherit the promises given to the saints of both Old and New Testaments.

As Abraham had held the promises given by God firmly, he did not bother even when God asked him to give his son as a sacrifice. God had told him, “I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven” and had made a covenant saying, “I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand”, and so Abraham had perfect faith that God would not separate his son from him. The Scripture says, “He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform” (Romans 4:20, 21).

Dear children of God, if God had given you a promise, hold it firmly. Do not lose heart. Heaven and earth will pass away but His promises will by no means pass away. He will definitely fulfill the promises given to you. You belong to the “Generation of promises” and praise the Lord, thanking Him for this exaltation.

“……who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God and the promises” (Romans 9:4).
