OUR GOD WILL NOT LIE!
“….in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began” (Titus 1:3).
Our God is faithful. The Scripture under the book of Titus says “God, who cannot lie”. The book of Hebrews also says “it is impossible for God to lie” (Hebrews 6:18).
Today, the world is filled with lies. The promises made by men are not reliable. The nations of the world make many resolutions while executing pacts but do not fulfill any of them. The political parties also throw so many promises to the people while canvassing for votes and some of their promises are most attractive but practically impossible. After the elections, these people could not even be met for once. The whole society has become dishonourable because of lies.
At the same time, look at our Lord God! It is impossible for God to lie. He who made the promises is faithful. You can believe God millions of times who never lies. Jesus Christ who is called as ‘God, who cannot lie’ and ‘Faithful’ also has another name. It is ‘who is true’ (I John 5:20). He has said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
Today, there are thousands of religions in the world. Many of them have originated from certain philosophical doctrines. Some religions have come from certain epic mythologies. But our God is faithful. The Christian religion is a true religion originated from the truth. The Bible is also called “The Holy Bible.” “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32) is a promise.
Some hundred years ago, India was ruled by an emperor called Asoka. He built a huge pillar at Sanchi and at the top of it engraved the Sanskrit words “Satyameva Jayate” which give the meaning “Truth will emerge victorious.” Later the Indian Government made that quotation as its voice. These words have been printed in the Indian currencies and coins. The Government of Tamil Nadu has translated this phrase as “Truth alone triumphs”.
What does this mean? One who is truthful alone will triumph. Though there are thousands of religions in the world, Jesus Christ alone will be seated like the King of kings and Lord of lords. Will you proclaim the true Gospel highlighting the conviction of faith and knowledge to be instilled amidst the God’s chosen people, that the entire world will be ruled by God faithfully, honestly and truthfully?
To meditate: “The entirety of your word is truth and every one of your righteous judgments endures forever.” (Psalm 119:160).
