“I will set him on high, because he has known my name” (Psalm 91:14).

The refuge in God is not an ordinary one but a high one. The blood of Jesus is that high refuge. It is a refuge which no satan could reach out. No enemy of destruction could touch or approach you. He could not snatch you from the Lord’s hands despite his continuous jumps from the hade. He would give up disappointedly, just like the fox that went empty handed and exclaimed about “sour grapes” after its futile attempts to grab the grapes.

He not only exalts you but has inscribed you on the palm of His hands. You happen to be a signet on His hand. Your education, talent, capabilities and the influences are not going to provide you with the refuge. God alone protects you by setting you high. All your excellence and greatness are on His hand.

Some people believe that they could achieve great heights by their own efforts and for this, they resort to shortcuts. In the process, they resort to pulling down others on the way. In the end, they lose their peace and resort to court and police by engaging several advocates. “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich and He adds no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22).

God anointed David who was tending sheep, as the king of Israel. Is it not? David had numerous enemies both internally and externally and he had to resort to several battles. During all those times God strengthened David and protected him by placing in a high refuge. Is it not? God of David is your God and He has placed you in His high refuge.

You reach a high status on being delivered. God provides you with the status of the children of the King of kings. He protects and exalts you placing you in the ark of Salvation. Oh, divine people who have been saved, is there anyone equivalent to you?

When the great flood came to the earth and destroyed all the people and the livestock, God placed Noah the righteous and his family in the ark which is the high refuge and protected them. The ark had been covered both inside and outside with pitch which is the sign of the blood of Jesus and so, even a drop of water could not creep into it. That Ark rested on the mountains of Ararat. Dear children of God, He exalted Noah to the mountain level and will He not also exalt you?

To meditate: “From the end of the earth I will cry to you, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I” (Psalm 61:2).
