“For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you” (Isaiah 54:10).

The mountains would stand steadfast for hundreds of years. The snow-covered hills also would stay mighty in the same way. But due to long duration of time and disasters like earthquakes, they are likely to get shaken or move. But with love, God says, “My grace will not depart from you and will endure in you forever.” Yes, how precious the grace of God is! How great it is for God to have mercy on you, with His irrevocable grace in this changing world!

David who tasted the grace of God, firmly said, “Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling” (Psalm 46:2, 3).

You may be worrying over issues like “Why this sickness came to me? Why these unexpected issues attacked me? Why is it that I am walking in the path of sufferings?” and so on. But even in the midst of all these problems and sufferings, the irrevocable grace of God will stay with you forever and ever. With His grace, God will also create a way for you to escape from them.

Once, a wonderful man of God was living with his family. One day, a group of ruffians came with terrible weapons to kill him and his family. Standing outside his house, they shouted in a threatening tone “Are you proclaiming Christ to the people and converting them from their religion? We are not going to allow you to do this anymore. We are going to kill you and your family members.”

No help arrived to him from any quarters. He was also unable to complain to the police. The neighbours in the street also did not come forward to help him. In this pathetic situation, they closed all the doors and stayed inside. Then, as a family, they praised God saying “Lord, the mercy you showed towards us thus far is better than our life. We are sure that you will continue to be merciful in the coming days also. Have you not said that even the mountains may depart but your grace will not?”

The next minute, all of a sudden, all the dogs in the street joined together and pounced on the group of hooligans. Being unable to overcome this onslaught, they dropped all the weapons on the road and began to run in search of safety. The dogs chased them and scattered them. Dear children of God “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory” (Psalm 84:11).

To meditate: “Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me” (Psalm 66:20).
