GRIEFS AND SORROWS
“Surely He has borne our grieves and carried our sorrows” (Isaiah 53:4).
Many will come to share the happiness of life and wealth. There are many people who would like to associate with you when you acquire fame and status and rise to the top level. But no one comes to share your sufferings, sadness and poverty.
Jesus Christ alone is the only one who comes with you in all situations. It is He who sacrificed the greatness of heaven and descended to the world. It is for you, He took the form of a slave. The glorious King came to the world as a Son of man to share your sufferings and sadness.
He tasted all the paths of sufferings in which you cross over in this earth. He also became a man of suffering like you. Not only that. Having put on a crown of thorns on the head, He carried the Cross for your sake. He knows what your worries are.
The Scripture says: “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad” (Proverbs 12:25). The words which are spoken like the piercing sword will cause bleeding in your heart. Jesus who knew in advance that you may have to cross over sufferings and sorrows bore numerous unnecessary wounds in His heart and body for your sake. He patiently tolerated everything.
Are you crossing over the path of sufferings or the path of sorrows? During that time, you meditate the five wounds of the lover of the soul. Do not forget that He is also hard-pressed in all your troubles and He takes part in all your sorrows.
Jesus Christ who had been adorned the crown of thorns broke all the curses of yours with His blood. His hands were pierced with nails and with the blood He washes and cleanses you from all your sins. His legs were also nailed and He provides you victory destroying all the powers of satan. He who allowed Himself to be pierced on the side for the blood and water to come out has accepted you as His bride.
Dear children of God, will you think of the depth of that sacrifice? Will you surrender yourself to lead a life matching that love of Calvary and sacrifice? Will you do His service with all your heart and strength so that the people of your country and members of your community taste that love?
To meditate: “These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
