"And nothing of theirs was lacking, either ..... David recovered all" (I Samuel 30:19).

Once, David came across a very big calamity. When he came to his native town, he found it to be burnt and his wife and children had been taken into captivity. Having lost everything, David was lamenting. "Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept until they had no more power to weep" (I Samuel 30:4).

After losing everything, David was sadly left alone and at this situation, his own people revolted against him. The Scripture says, "Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God" (I Samuel 30:6).

Apart from strengthening himself, David also pleaded to God over his sufferings. God spoke to him and promised to say, "Pursue the enemies, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail to recover all.” Hearing these words, David and the six hundred men with him departed for the purpose.

Since God was with David, he was able to locate the Amalekites and defeat them. The Scripture says: "And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything which they had taken from them; David recovered all" (I Samuel 30:19).

Similar to how David redeemed his children from the hands of the Amalekites, God has redeemed you from the clutches of satan and has saved you. Further, to protect you from falling into his hands again, He has equipped you with great weapons of sword which is the Spirit, the precious Name of Christ and the faith which is the shield. Through that Name of God, you will become victorious. Thanks be to God who gives you the victories.

When you hold on to God firmly, you will regain everything which you had lost. Job received from God, twice as much as he had before.

Dear children of God, what you had lost might be money or wealth or the fellowship of love in the family. But when you pray with tears looking up to God, He will not only help you in regaining everything that had been lost but He would ensure that hereafter you would not lose anything and bless you with victory.

To meditate: "Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place" (II Corinthians 2:14).
