“He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock and established my steps” (Psalm 40:2).

God is one who lifts you out of the miry clay. Further, He is the one to establish you on the rock. He is the one to pick you up from the deep pit and lift you to heavenly places and higher places.

When you are in a harbour, you can see a big crane picking the heavy objects transported by the ship, lift them and place them on the containers parked on the shore. On getting filled, the container will carry the consignments to the respective destinations for delivery. The crane lifting the very heavy objects in an easy manner will be a wonderful sight to see. We can ascertain how strong its arm is when compared to that of a man.

Similar to how a crane displaces heavy objects, God also does to us. That revelation was with the robber who was crucified along with Christ. Since he fully believed that Jesus Christ is powerful to lift and exalt, he pleaded “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom’ (Luke 23:42). How amazing it was! Once he pleaded, the mighty hand of God began to function. It picked the robber who was standing in the edge of the hade and lifted him to the third heaven. Jesus told him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43).

That Lord is one who exalts you in your humbleness. Joseph was thrown into a pit by his own brothers. But Joseph was not a one who had been called for such an experience. His call was to become a key official of Egypt. When God wants to exalt one, no one could prevent it. The wicked people may try to push you into a pit. Look up to the arm of God. God will exalt and bless you to a level which your enemies could not even imagine.

God has set your feet on a rock after picking you from the miry clay. You dwell in Christ who is the rock. The Scripture says, “Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice… let them shout from the top of the mountains” (Isaiah 42:11).

Dear children of God, when God lifts you, He lifts you not only above all men but also above the angels. Just imagine how great you have been elevated when He has given all the powerful angels as Spirits of service to you. “Blessed be God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).

To meditate: “His horn will be exalted with honor. The wicked will see it and be grieved; He will gnash his teeth and melt away” (Psalm 112:9, 10)
