“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (I John 4:4).

God is greater, powerful, glorious and majestic amongst you. In this world, satan stays as its ruler. So, he brings sufferings, tribulations and troubles to the children of God. Jesus said, “In the world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Once, when Jesus went to a church, He met a demon-possessed man there. Since Jesus was greater than the powers of darkness of the world, the demons in the man ran out of him with fear.

One brother was saved and just a few days after he accepted Jesus as his Saviour, a youngster came to him for praying. When that brother prayed all the demons in the youngster came out and were cast out. After all the demons had left him, the brother asked the youngster "How did you feel when these demons ran out of you? Were you aware that I was praying for you?"

The youngster's reply surprised the brother and also it made him happy. The reply was "You were never seen by me. But I saw a bright person within you. The evil spirits within me began to run out of me being unable to face that bright person." Yes. He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. He is greater than the problems and struggles of the world.

Once when the disciples were travelling in a boat, a great windstorm arose and there was a danger of the boat getting capsized. At that time Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. The disciples awoke Jesus and said to Him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” (Mark 4:38).

Jesus is great and His power is greater than the power of nature. He rebuked the wind and the sea and they obeyed Him. Dear children of God, the problems you face today may look like huge mountains but they will melt and vanish like a heap of snow. The forts of the enemies which look like the wall of Jericho will break and fall down in pieces. Since the victorious Christ is coming with you, you will stay victorious.

To meditate: “Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us” (I John 3:24).
