“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth” (Psalm 145:18).

God is faithful. He who promised to stay nearer to all those who call upon Him is faithful. When you call upon Him in truth, He will come nearer to you and show pity on you with love. He will meet all your needs.

Moses asks, “For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?” (Deuteronomy 4:7). God staying nearer to you itself is a great thing for you. You have been chosen by Him and so when you worship Him, He will come nearer to you, listens to your prayer and meets all your needs.

God has promised, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them” (Mathew 18:20). When two or three persons gather together, the presence of God could be felt among them. Because God is faithful.

“…He is not far from each one of us” (Acts 17:27). Irrespective of poor or rich, illiterate or educated, He stays nearer to all those who call upon Him. At times you might consider yourself to be far away from Him. But when you call upon Him, definitely He will come closer to you irrespective of your situation.

Some people think that God is nearer only to the servants of God and He will listen to the prayer of only such people. But God is not partial towards anyone. He shows no difference between servants of God and believers and between the learned and the illiterate.

A tax collector stood far off and being unable to raise his eyes to heaven, beat his breast and said ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ When he called God in truth, God came nearer to Him and made him righteous (Luke 18:13). Is it not?

With a sad face, Jabez prayed “And Oh, that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that your hand would be with me and that you would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” (I Chronicles 4:10). Hearing this prayer, God came nearer to him and blessed him. Is it not? Dear children of God, God will also listen to your prayer and protect you from the evils. He is closer to you.

To meditate: “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as have a contrite spirit” (Psalm 34:18).
