FAITHFUL IN FORGIVING!
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9).
Our God is faithful in forgiving. He is merciful in forgiving. It is for forgiving, He shed His blood. It is for forgiving, He surrendered Himself as an eternal sacrifice as per the law.
“For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:3, 4). Jesus Christ not only created the path of Salvation but also created the path of holiness.
Many people live with a guilty conscience after committing sins. How terrible the sin is! The Scripture says, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). When you confess and forsake the sins, you will receive the mercy of God. John the Apostle says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9).
Dear children of God, once after forgiving your sins, God never thinks of them again. So, when you come to the presence of God, you can talk boldly to God. We read in Hebrews 4:16, “Let us, therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
Sis. Catherine Gulman confessed her sins and was forgiven by God. But even after this, her guilty conscience kept on troubling her and so she prayed to God and sought propitiation for the second time. With love, God told her, “Catherine, even when you asked for forgiveness for the first time, I forgave your sins and threw them deep into the sea. You may forget all those things and try to move ahead in your life.” Thereafter she was relieved of her guilty conscience and she became a powerful healing Evangelist.
“He does not retain His anger forever, ….. He will again have compassion on us and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea” (Micah 7:18, 19). Dear children of God, because of the love God has over you, He has forgiven your sins and has thrown them deep into the sea. So, do not be thinking of them anymore. Protect yourself with holiness.
To meditate: “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world” (I John 2:2).
