“..... and you give them drink from the river of your pleasures. For with you is the fountain of life” (Psalms 36:8, 9).
God is one who quenches your thirst; fulfil your desires. When you stand before Him with all honesty and truthfulness, He will fulfil all the desires of your heart. The Scripture says, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart” (Psalms 37:4).
God gives a call to all those who are in thirst saying, “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come; buy wine and milk without money and without price” (Isaiah 55:1).
In the New Testament also God says, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:37, 38). The heart of a man is full of thirst. By nature, it contains the thirst for Spiritual deeds. There are several types of worships in the world and there is always a desire within a man in knowing who is the true God.
Some people run after the lusts, some others run with greed over money and few more people run after fame. Even while climbing the ladder of fame, they are being demeaned by others and are subjected to frustration. They run after all the worldly attractive factors and in the end, they die without their thirst getting quenched similar to how an ant moves towards the syrup of sugar and simultaneously falls into it and dies.
But, when you run towards God with thirst on Him, your soul will definitely be quenched of its thirst. The heart of David possessed immeasurable thirst on God. With thirst, he says, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for you, O God” (Psalms 42:1). “O God, you are my God; early will I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water” (Psalms 63:1).
Dear children of God, there may be so many great things and blessings in the world. But, only if your heart possesses longings like "I should meet God, I should have fellowship with Him and I should listen to His voice" He will definitely quench your thirst. He will quench your thirst with the water from the river of pleasures. When this happens, your heart will become ecstatic and will rejoice in God.
To meditate: “And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17).
