“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles” (Isaiah 40:31).

In the Scripture, there is an important place for the eagle. Whenever we read about the eagle in the Scripture, you can understand that God has placed some important spiritual lessons in those instances. Shall we meditate them?

Of all the birds, the eagles fly at a very high altitude and they also make their nests at high places (Job 39:27). They never fly at low levels like a sparrow and they do not roam about like crows in search of dirty food.

You also need such high spiritual experiences. The experience of dwelling with Christ on the Most High is required. Without getting distracted by the worldly attractions, you have to stand steadfast in a prayerful life, in holiness and in the fellowship with God. You have to inherit the blessings of the Most High.

Look at Jesus Christ! Dwelling with God on the Most High like an eagle was His personal life. Longing for such great experiences, He used to go to the wilderness and to the high mountains and pray for the whole night. Dear children of God, long for such great experiences. “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:2).

The reason for Abraham to depart leaving his people, home and the country was nothing but to build his nest on the Most High. The Scripture says that he desired a heavenly country (Hebrews 11:16). “For he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God” (Hebrews 11:10).

The eagle builds its nest perfectly. Of all the nests built by the birds, the nest of the eagle is the special one. There has been a funny story. Once, the eagle called all other birds and began to teach them over how to build a nest.

When it began the explanation describing how the base could be built with tiny sticks and thorns, the crow which was listening lost its patience and flew away saying "I know, I know." Thereafter the birds flew away one after the other saying that they knew everything. No bird had the patience to listen to the process of how to build a nest.

Similar to this, many people listen to one or two truths and before completion go away with the thought that they know everything. Dear children of God, do not follow such people but move towards perfection. Dedicate yourself to God's entire teachings so that the perfection in Christ is also seen in you.

To meditate: “Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles” (Psalms 103:5).
