“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you” (Isaiah 43:2).

How precious are the promises of God! God will be with you under all circumstances. Do not worry even if a situation in which you have to walk on fire arises. The fire is of three types. The first one is the one made by the man, the next one is the one made by satan and the last one is the fire received from God.

Firstly, King Nebuchadnezzar created a furnace out of rage that some people refused to worship the image of gold made by him. That furnace was made seven times hotter for burning Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. This is the fire made by man.

God who promised "When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned" protected them from getting burnt. According to His Word "Nor shall the flame scorch you" their dress did not burn. Only the ropes with which they had been tied had been burnt. God who promised to be with us in flames of fire, descended to the furnace and walked in it.

People did not see the image of gold made by Nebuchadnezzar but they looked the furnace only. They only saw God dwelling with His children in the furnace and they saw how faithful God is in fulfilling the promises. Dear children of God, God is also with you and He will dwell with you always.

The second is the fire brought by satan. He placed that fire on the tongue. “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell” (James 3:6).

Think of this. For burning in the fire of the hell, satan uses the tongue alone. The tongues of some people bring down the fire of the hade. The create anger and frustration. With no hesitation, they wound others. Dear children of God, He will protect you from the harsh words of the wicked. Even when you walk in the furnace, it will not wound you.

The third one is the fire of God. It is the fire which is the Holy Spirit from heaven. That fire has been promised by God. That fire descended when Elijah prayed. Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!” Dear children of God, will you also fall on your face and say so?

To meditate: “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!” (Luke 12:49).
