“Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters” (Genesis 1:6).

When we see the blue sky, we feel happy and our heart rejoices. The 'firmament' denotes the great Spiritual life. When we see the sky, it reminds us of God leading the Israelites with the pillar of cloud.

When we see the sky, we are reminded of Jesus Christ climbing it to reach God the Father. We look at the firmament of heaven and praise God's power of creation. The Scripture says, “And raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).

When King David looked at the firmament, his heart longed to praise God “Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!” (Psalms 150:1). He praises God saying, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork” (Psalms 19:1). The beauty of the firmament which spreads extensively leads and raises your heart to praise God.

The lightning powerfully twinkles in the firmament and turns the darkness into light. The roaring of the thunders proclaims that the King of the Jews is alive. God reveals His love towards you by spreading the multitude of stars all over the sky.

One day, you will shine like the light of heaven. The Scripture says, “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever” (Daniel 12:3). Though you were born in this world, you do not belong to it. You will be the strangers and pilgrims of the world and move towards eternity after living with the heavenly vision, looking up to the firmament of heaven.

Dear children of God, The Scripture says “Your citizenship is in heaven” (Philippians 3:20). “Your Father is there” (Matthew 6:9). “Your Saviour is there” (Acts 5:31, Philippians 3:20). “You have mansions there” (John 14:2).

All your names have been written in heaven (Luke 10:20), (Philippians 4:3), (Colossians 3:3). There you have the crown of glory with life and the glorious inheritances. Your life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3).

To meditate: “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:1, 2).
