PEARL!

“who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it” (Mathew 13:46).

God compares the kingdom of heaven to a merchant who seeks beautiful pearls. When he found one pearl of great price which is Jesus Christ, he sold all that he had and owned Jesus Christ. Have you inherited Jesus Christ who is the pearl of great price?

Once, a young man went to the sea for pearl diving. He gathered many pearls holding his breath for a long time and at last when he was about to come out, he found a big pearl lying at the bottom. He just left all the pearls he had collected so far and again moved to the bottom to pick that big one. With all breathing difficulties, he pecked that pearl but the situation became worse and he was unable to hold his breath any longer.

Since he did not turn up for a very long time, his friends swam into the sea in search of him. But alas! They were able to bring out his dead body only. His hand was kept closed and his father found a big pearl within the closed hand.

His father cried and lamented. At last, he decided to visit any one of the shrines and hand over the pearl. On his way, a servant of God met him. When he talked comparing the pearl to the Salvation the heart of the father was broken.

He cried uncontrollably with the thought "My son has given me an ordinary pearl giving his life as the price. But Jesus Christ descended on earth for my sake and has given me the Salvation by pouring his blood on the cross and giving His life." He looked at the servant of God and said, "Tell me, what I have to do to receive Salvation? What price I have to pay? I am prepared to give this pearl as a price for that."

Jesus Christ did not fix any price for the Salvation. If you come to Him with desire, you can receive it. If you come with the thirst, you can receive it without any cost. The Scripture says “And the Spirit and the bride say, “come!” and let him who hears say, “come!” and let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17).

Dear children of God, you have been redeemed with the precious Salvation. Do not forget that you have not been redeemed with gold or silver or with the blood of a bull or a ram but with the pearl that descended from the heaven which is Jesus Christ.

To meditate: “but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:19).
