“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be” (Matthew 24:37).
Jesus Christ pointed out an incident that happened during the time of the Old Testament and prophesied that the same thing will happen on the day of His Coming. The incidences of the Old Testament happen to be a model or sign for us, for the things that happen today.
Sin was rapidly on the increase during the time of Noah. People were just involved in arranging marriage partners and resorted to drinking and eating and they failed to seek God. When God wished to destroy the world which was filled with iniquities, He commanded Noah to build an ark for the purpose of protecting Noah who was righteous and his family.
Today, people are getting closer to the end of the world and its destruction. Sins, iniquities and wicked things have increased. The world is nearing its end and the people are fast approaching the Day of Judgment. But still, God has a plan to protect the righteous.
God, who built the ark through Nova, has built the church which is the ark for you. Day after day, God is admitting all those saved, in His church. God looked at Peter and told, “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).
The ark of Noah had been built with wood. But the church built by Him today is with His own blood and life (Acts 20:28). A church inherited long back (Psalms 74:2).
The visible church is there and an invisible church is also there. Today, there are different churches at different parts of the world. Different denominations like Catholic, Protestant and Pentecost are there. Though they follow different doctrines, they worship the same God within the four walls. These are the visible churches.
But about the invisible churches, the Scripture says, “To the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect” (Hebrews 12:23). For this church, Jesus Christ who is in heaven is the leader. The believers all over the world are united by the Holy Spirit and remain as one body. Dear children of God, do not neglect the assembly of the church. You should be seen in the church of Christ which is the ark.
To meditate: “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25).
