“Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all” (Romans 4:16).
The inheritance comes through grace. It is the grace which gets you the inheritance from God. That grace is perfect in you. God called Abraham with His grace and entered a covenant with him. He promised Canaan to him. The cattle and other wealth of Abraham were perfect and blessed. Abraham who was so blessed also had a yearning. That was nothing but he had no children.
One day Abraham placed his request to God openheartedly lamenting "God, you have been so gracious to me. You have given me everything but not a child. I do not have an heir." The Scripture says, " Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all" (Romans 4:16).
The inheritance of children is provided only by the grace of God. That is why the Scripture says, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward” (Psalms 127:3).
God wanted to bless Abraham as the sand of the sea and the stars of the sky. Yes, He is not the one to bless meagerly but He is one to bless abundantly. What you seek from God may be few or little but what God has decided to give you is huge. He is powerful to give you much more than what you think and seek. The reason for this is nothing but His deep love towards you.
Today, many people fear things unnecessarily, with sheer imaginations. Most of these fears are like a fish in the Indian Ocean fearing with the thought that what will happen to it if the entire water of the sea gets evaporated. Thousands of fish may live and consume water but how could a sea become dry? Similarly, any number of believers may seek and get things from God but never will the treasuries of heaven become dry.
The grace of God is sufficient to meet your needs. His grace will provide you with everything which your self-efforts could not fetch. The divine grace will provide you with the healing which the doctors could not give you. It will place you in high position which you would never have thought of.
God was gracious towards Abraham and promised him to multiply his descendants as the stars of heaven. “Abraham believed God and he accounted it to him for righteousness” (Genesis 15:6). Dear children of God, when God extends His grace towards you, believe it fully and accept it.
To meditate: “Who remembered us in our lowly state, for His mercy endures forever” (Psalms 136:23).
