“For our citizenship is in heaven” (Philippians 3:20).
For most of the people, the greatest wish is to own a house within their lifespan and as a first move, they are on the lookout for a good housing plot. They ensure that the area has good water facility, transportation, educational institutions etc. If so much of effort is put to acquire a piece of land in this world which is a mere temporary dwelling, how great the efforts should be to secure a space in the eternity! Dear children, have you bought the space in heaven?
There are fertile rivers of life with clean water. It is a place in which trees which give twelve varieties of fruits are in plenty. It is a place which has been laid with golden roads. There is a compound wall and also twelve gates made of pearls. It is a city with brightness all through the day and night. It is a city filled with eternal homes built by God with no hand work.
When this housing plot is located in such a precious place, you should make a frantic effort to get one. Is it not? Jesus says, “In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2).
God has already created so many dwellings for the saints of the Old Testament. There are so many dwellings like those of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. All the saints of the Old Testament will come and assemble there.
God willed to install a new dwelling for you. Are you not His bride? He has predestined a great one for you which even the saints of the Old Testament do not have. The reason is that you alone are the heirs for His blood and flesh. You are the partners for His perfect grace.
When He was taken up to heaven, Jesus looked up to the disciples and said: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3). How glorious it is to dwell with Jesus Christ!
Dear children of God, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home” (Luke 16:9).
To meditate: “For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” (2 Corinthians 5:1).
