“I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star” (Revelation 22:16).
The sight of a morning star will give immense joy to the sailors. That too when the ship is caught in darkness and storms, the morning star which indicates the direction will become a star of hope for them.
Dear children of God, Jesus Christ stays as the Morning Star for you. That Morning Star will clear the power of darkness in your heart and bring in the heavenly light. God said, “Let there be light” (Genesis 1:3) and at once the light was created and the darkness was eliminated. Similarly, God willed to make your heart shine like a Morning Star which had been hiding behind the darkness of sin.
Paul the Apostle writes, “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6).
If you look at that Morning Star eagerly and say “God, be merciful to me a sinner” He will bring into your heart the light of Redemption which is the forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7), (Colossians 1:14). Jesus Christ, who is the Morning Star provides not only the light of forgiveness but He also stays as the light to brighten your life. Prophet Micah says, “Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me” (Micah 7:8).
In certain villages, the farmers will wake up as early as 3 o’clock in the morning and go to their fields to irrigate them. It will be dark all around and the noise of the frogs will be everywhere. A cool breeze will keep on flowing and in this pleasant atmosphere the stars will be beaming out light joyously. What a pleasant experience to walk in the light of those stars! Yes, God alone is the light for you.
When Christ remains as light in your life, no power of darkness can prevail over you. You will be marching as the children of light. The Scripture says, “The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned” (Matthew 4:16).
Dear children of God, in the world which is filled with sorrows and sadness, Jesus Christ alone is the one to guide you wonderfully. He will make the light shine all through your life. With that brightness, you will shine for God.
To meditate: “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever” (Daniel 12:3).
