“Wait on the Lord; be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!” (Psalms 27:14).

Though ‘waiting’ is a hard task, it is quite natural that you are compelled to wait for certain things with no other options. For the morning coffee, one has to wait for the milkman. One has to wait for the bus to reach the work spots. After completing the studies one has to wait for employment. Some people wait for their marriages and some married people wait for conceiving. Dear children of God, when you wait for God, He will strengthen your heart.

During the prayer time, wait for the presence of God and keep on praying until you get nearer to His throne. Wait until all the powers of darkness get wiped out and the divine light enters into your heart. When you feel the hope that your prayer has been heard by God, you experience great joy and you have to wait until you experience this divine feeling.

Some people are unable to wait and pray as they are being squeezed by the worldly burdens and sorrows. That is why Paul the Apostle writes “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6, 7).

When you wait for God, you should have the patience and hope that He will answer your prayer. David says, “I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined to me and heard my cry” (Psalms 40:1).

When you wait for God, the divine power will descend on the inner man within you. You will go on receiving the new strength. Unknowingly, you will be covered by the glory of God. The Scripture says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

While the children play outside, suddenly they will come and knock at the doors and before we open the door, they would have gone back to continue playing. Similar to this, some people will be praying but they will not continue until the reply of God is received. Because of this, they are unable to receive anything from God. Dear children of God, you should not be so. When you knock at the doors of heaven you will have to wait and keep looking up to Him until the answer is received.

To meditate: “And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise” (Hebrews 6:15).
