WATCHMAN?

“Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Genesis 4:9).

Man's first question to God was "Am I a watchman?" For this question, God replied, "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel" (Ezekiel 3:17). Yes. You are watchmen indeed. God has placed you as watchmen.

People employ watchmen to protect their houses during nights. The Government has the Police Department to protect the people. To protect the country from external attacks, the Government has its Military force.

Apart from this, each nation has installed the 'Radars' in the borders. Electrical rays will be beamed from these radars all through the day and night. If an aircraft of an enemy is sighted, these rays will get into contact with it and in no time pass on the details of the aircraft to the ground staff. Further the rays function automatically and shoot down the enemy's aircraft.

When the man-made machines protect the nation day and night how essential it is for you to stay as watchmen of God! Look at the bees! at the entrance of every honeycomb, you can find two bees beating their wings in order to protect. They ensure that no other creature enters into the honeycomb.

The role of the white cells in your body is to protect the blood. They fight against the germs which cause disease. The eyelids are there to protect the eyes. These eyelids protect the iris of the eyes. Dear children of God, do not forget that you are the watchmen. What are the things which you need to protect as Watchmen?

Firstly, you have to protect your heart. Solomon the wise said, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). The heart which is the soul is imperishable and eternal. If you do not protect this properly, satan will bring sin to your soul and push you into eternal suffering.

Secondly, the eyes are to be protected. The Scripture says, “The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” (Matthew 6:22-23). “Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you” (Proverbs 4:25). Dear children of God, will you protect your heart and eyes?

To meditate: “I have set watchmen on your walls, o Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night” (Isaiah 62:6).
