“When the Lord saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb; but Rachel was barren (Genesis 29:31).

In this world, you can find two kinds of people. One who despise others and the next one underestimate themselves and isolate from others. Some are valued cheaply for the reason that they are illiterate and some for lacking in good appearance; some for their poor financial status and some due to caste discriminations.

For whatever reason you are despised, do not forget that God stands in support of you always. Even Christ was despised. He was mocked for being the son of a poor carpenter. God who Himself was despised, knows your sorrows of being despised by others. So, He provides comfort and consolation to all those who are despised.

God saw that Leah was unloved. The world saw only her outward unhappiness. But God saw the beauty of her inner heart. So God blessed her with a blessed generation. Dear children of God, do not value yourself cheaply but rejoice with joy.

When Jesus Christ chose His disciples, He did not go for big learned or wise people. He chose only very ordinary people. Most of them were fishermen and they did not know the contents of the Holy Torah.

Only with those ordinary people God willed to fulfil His huge ministry. He did not stand beside the Scribes who were well versed in the Scripture or beside the Pharisees and the Sadducees who were learned. God gave the gifts, power and the anointment of the Holy Spirit to the disciples who were looked down upon as very ordinary and willed to make use of them.

God has chosen the foolish and you to make the wise feel embarrassed. He wills to conceal the heavenly secrets to the wise and the learned but reveal the same to you. The Scripture says, “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty” (I Corinthians 1:27).

Look at the life of Dwight L. Moody. He was the least educated. He was involved in the simple activity of bringing children to the Sunday school ministry. But God willed to bless him. Dear children of God, the same God is with you and He will bless you definitely.

To meditate: “And the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are” (I Corinthians 1:28).
