“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day” (Genesis 3:8).
The biggest of the blessings which God gave to Adam and Eve is the fellowship with Him. Every day, God dwelled in the Eden Garden in the cool of the day. He descended to have fellowship with man and to speak with him. As He descended, the heat of the day turned cool in His fellowship.
Dear children of God, you also will feel a cool joy when you feel His presence, a cool of comfort at testing times, a cool peace during struggles and cool of the day while dwelling with Him.
Adam and Eve had fellowship with God. God was in fellowship with a man who was His bone and His flesh. He was in fellowship with him after naming all the livestock. But, when the man committed sin, he lost the fellowship.
The animals refused to obey Adam and Eve. The man and the woman began to accuse each other. The fellowship with God was broken completely. When God came around, he hid behind the trees. The heart was gripped with fear.
That fellowship can be got back only by reconciling with God. After repenting for the sins committed, you will have to say, "Lord, I have saddened and troubled you. Wash me with your blood. I want to reconcile with you and live in peace."
Paul the Apostle said, “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:18-20).
It is God who resorted for reconciliation first. When Adam was hiding after committing sin, it was God who searched for Adam and asked with love "Adam, where are you?" Look! How undeserving the man is for God to remember him and inquire on His well being?
The man betrayed God by obeying to the fallen and disobedient serpent. If God comes down to inquire such a man with love, to reconcile and have fellowship with him, is it not a fitting example to define His divine love? Dear children of God, receive immediately the fellowship which God gives you.
To meditate: “....truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ" (I John 1:3).
