“So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you” (Exodus 23:25).

It is the perfect will of God that you should live with divine health. Is it not a great blessing for you to live in good health without getting subjected to the hardships of ill health?

During the days of the Old Testament, when God blessed the children of Israel, He promised saying, "I will take sickness away from the midst of you." If it is so, how eager He should be for the children of God to be healthy!

I have heard many believers rendering testimonies in churches this way. "I was sick and had been admitted to a hospital. Many people prayed for me and God blessed me with miraculous healing. I thank all who prayed for me. Let all glory be to God."

People thank God when the sickness is healed but when they are blessed with divine health protecting them from all sicknesses they fail to thank God and the servants of God. You should seek God a life free of sickness and when He gives the same to you, you should thank Him similar to how you would thank Him when He relieves you from sickness. The preciousness of the shade will be felt only when one is exposed to the heat of the scorching sun.

While you seek divine health from God, you should also resort to the ways and means which would help the cause. God has prescribed the criteria that you should work for six days and take rest on the seventh day. Rest is essential for the body. When you experience tiredness in the body, it will not be possible for you to act with proper mental alertness.

At the same time, if you proceed to fulfil commitments after taking an appropriate break, you will be able to perform with new found strength and enthusiasm. Some people will be working for the whole of the nights. They will undertake non-stop traveling. They will violate the natural bindings by not taking food at the right time and finally when the body becomes weak and gets infected with health hazards, they will scream "Why this sickness for me, God?"

When you think well and act, God will give you wisdom, knowledge and discretion. There is no meaning in getting drenched in rain purposely and later lamenting over the fever. To sustain health, keep the surroundings neat and tidy. When you fulfil your responsibilities in the right way, God will fulfil His responsibilities according to His will.

To meditate: “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
