“My Presence will go with you and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14).
Let the presence of God go ahead of you every month and year. No enemy’s power could overcome you if the presence of God goes ahead of you. No hurdle can restrict you and your run will end successfully.
When Moses was wandering in the wilderness, he looked up to God and said, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here”. God said, “My presence will go with you and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14).
Many people used to repeatedly say this prayer and promise whenever they undertake travel. Many people deliver their New Year message on the basis of this verse. But only a few make this verse their experience.
In the Tamil language, “சமுகம்” is the translation for the word “Presence.” And within the word “சமுகம்,” we can see another word “முகம்” (Face) finding a place. So, the word “சமுகம்” indicates the presence of God’s divine face in His presence. Will not your heart rejoice when you happen to see His face? The faces of the parents create a great sense of happiness in their children. Is it not? That is why David always rejoiced whenever he felt the presence of God. He says, “....in your presence is the fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalms 16:11).
The sight of the rainy clouds brings joy and happiness among the peacocks. The peacock on seeing the clouds begins to spread its feathers and dance. On seeing the peacocks dancing merrily, the turkeys also join them in the celebration. If the sight of the mere sky brings so much of joy among these birds, how joyous it would be for you to see the presence of God!
Once, when the ark of the Lord came into the City of David, David found the presence of God is fully filled in the space around it. So, He rejoiced and danced with all his might. He was least bothered about others watching his way of rejoicing.
When his wife Michal despised him in her heart, David said, “It was before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord” (2 Samuel 6:21). Dear children of God, there are power and strength in the presence of God. Happiness and perfect joy are also there. Further, there are honour and majesty in His presence
To meditate: “Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and gladness are in His place. Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, give to the Lord glory and strength” (I Chronicles 16:27, 28).
