“Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you” (Deuteronomy 28:10).

You are the children of God. You have been called by His Name. You are the holy people of God. Are not these things great blessings for you?

In ancient times, people enter into covenants with one another and exchange their garments, share the war weapons or dine together.

God also wants to make a covenant with you. You are giving your garments to God and in turn, He gives His garments to you. You give Him the dirty garments which are self-righteousness. He clothes you with the garments of salvation and has covered you with the robe of righteousness. He gives you the fine linen of the saints.

Adam was without a garment when he committed sin. The divine glory had left him. He realised his nudity. But God willed to clothe them. How great His love is! The Scripture says, “Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin and clothed them” (Genesis 3:21). That tunic of skin was nothing but the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Further, they were called by the Name of God.

The garment has its own specialities. The uniform holds special importance. You can identify a doctor when one is wearing a particular uniform. There are different uniforms for the police force, army and air force. When a person in police uniform walks on the road, the gamblers and bootleggers to run away even leaving their belongings. The reason is that that dress has special importance. God has clothed you with His Name as a garment.

“........my people who are called by my name” (2 Chronicles 7:14). “Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you” (Deuteronomy 28:10).

You have not been called to be afraid of others but to make others fear over you. You are not the one to be afraid of satan but satan should be afraid of you. The magicians cannot overcome you but you will be the one to challenge and overcome them. Dear children of God, He is prepared to give whatever you ask in His Name. So, do not panic. God is the refuge and a very great sword for you.

To meditate: “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Galatians 3:27).
